Jason Dorey, of Halifax Photography Services, was asked to photograph this years Light The Night event in October for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), which if you didn't know, is a charity walk held annually in Halifax to raise money for cancer.
Jason has never participated or worked at an event like this before so it was his first exposure to the whole thing, and it was truly a humbling experience.
Individuals, families, businesses and corporations go hard to work all year long to raise money which culminates in this event that had an amazing turnout and raised a helluva lot of money for cancer research.. $775,000 to be precise!
It was a well organized successful event and I got to witness a lot of great people having fun and doing something good; tears of sadness and tears of joy.
What was most humbling for Jason, as a professional Halifax wedding photographer, was to see how many peoples lives have been touched by cancer in some way. To witness the literally thousands of people who volunteered or gave their time to support the cause was truly a special thing to see, and something I won't soon forget.
A special thank you to Krissy Arbuckle, Community & Fund Development Manager (LLSC) for all of her hard work and for bringing me in on this project.
